Barman jumps to Raymond James

Sports banker Aaron Barman is on the move again, going to Raymond James Financial, where he will try to build a sports practice.

Barman started late last month at Raymond James, perhaps best known in sports for naming the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' stadium. The Southeastern investment bank has little experience in sports finance other than handling some municipal bond sales to raise money for stadium construction.

Now Barman will try to win private deals for Raymond James.

Previously, he was with Australian bank Macquarie Bank Ltd., where he also was trying to build a sports practice. He made his mark at Prudential Securities, arranging innovative financing for the Rose Garden in Portland in 1993 and AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami five years ago. But he was laid off from Prudential in 2001 as part of its cutbacks there in investment banking.
