Mark Furlong has been named vice president, Golf World Group and publisher of Golf World, both part of the Golf Digest Cos.

Furlong, 46, joins the company from Natural History Magazine, where he had been publisher since 1998. In his new role he will oversee the business strategy and growth of the Golf World Group, which includes Golf World and Golf World Business.Before his stint at Natural History Magazine, Furlong was director of advertising for A&E's "Biography." From 1996 to 1998 he was director of advertising for Snow Country.
From 1992 to 1996 Furlong was publisher of Premiere, which saw revenue double and paging increase by nearly 100 pages during his tenure. Furlong was also advertising director for Esquire, as well as national sales manager for The National Sports Daily.
He has worked as part of People's sales team in both New York and Detroit and as Southeast manager for Sports Afield and a classified sales representative for The New York Times Co. Furlong began his career in 1979 as a sales representative for The Reporter Dispatch in Westchester, N.Y.
