AOL trucks promo to NASCAR stops

AOL is hitting the Winston Cup circuit to ramp up its motorsports association and promote its new broadband service to racing fans.

Beginning Sunday at the MBNA Armed Forces Family 400 in Dover, Del., AOL will travel to 16 Winston Cup races by way of an 18-wheeler that will serve as a mobile marketing unit, equipped with computers to allow fans to experience AOL broadband features, said Tom Richardson, vice president and general manager of AOL Sports.

Richardson would not reveal the cost of the promotion.

Separately, AOL last week launched a new NASCAR home page on AOL for Broadband called "RaceTime."

Since launching its $14.95-a-month broadband service in early April, AOL has added several offerings to a sports package that includes video and audio content from Major League Baseball, the NFL, NHL, NBA and NASCAR.
