BellSouth seeks bowl benefits
BellSouth Corp. targeted promotional bags from NuBoard Media in its effort to build brand awareness during the recent college football bowl season. Bags featuring BellSouth product brochures and promotional items were attached to seat backs for fans at the FedEx Orange Bowl in Miami, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta and Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl in Nashville. A message on the surface of the bags, "Everything you need to make the right call," was aimed at marketing the company's long-distance service for Florida, Georgia and Tennessee residents. The promotional item that yielded the highest fan interaction was BellSouth's Good Call/Bad Call Fan Cards, created by Grey Advertising in Atlanta. Fans were able to wave the cards to express their thoughts on in-game calls by the referees, showcasing the brand further with each wave. It marked the second consecutive year BellSouth used the NuBoard product in a marketing effort. NuBoard estimates that 50 percent of the spectators at the three games, more than 75,000 people, took the bags and their contents home with them.
