Canal+ Will Market Int'l Broadcast Rights For Top14 Through '25

The French National Rugby League (LNR) announced Canal+ will market its int'l rights for the Top14 and the Pro D2 from ’19-25, according to L’ÉQUIPE. Canal+ has historically only marketed the league’s domestic rights. In a statement, the LNR said that int'l development is a “key priority” in its ’16-23 strategic plan and wants to “strengthen the visibility and marketability” of the competition (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/6).

FRENCH HANDBALL: L’ÉQUIPE also reported beIN Sports extended its contract with the French handball league, Starligue, through '23. BeIN has broadcast the competition since '14. The broadcaster will show all 182 matches live. The deal is reportedly worth €4M ($4.5M) per year. The National Handball League (LNH) said that the deal includes a provision to co-broadcast at least 10-15 matches per season with a free-to-air network (L’ÉQUIPE, 2/5).
