The long-standing WTA Tour stop in New Haven, Conn., was sold to Asian sports company APG, which is moving it to Zhengzhou City, China, sources said. The tournament, which has taken place the week before the U.S. Open, now will be held the week following the season's last grand slam event. The tourney has been in New Haven since '98. The WTA will now have 11 events in China, compared to seven in the U.S. (Daniel Kaplan, SPORTS BUSINESS JOURNAL). REUTERS' Shrivathsa Sridhar reported the women's tour will have two more additions with the Ladies Championship Lausanne being staged in Switzerland after Wimbledon and the Baltic Open in Jurmala, Latvia, in July. The latter two events will replace the Ladies Championships in Gstaad and the Moscow River Cup (REUTERS, 2/1).
