Names In The News: Bayern Munich Signs Chris Richards Through '23

Bayern Munich signed 18-year-old CHRIS RICHARDS on a four-and-a-half-year contract through June '23. Richards was initially signed on loan to Bayern's U19s from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas last July. The clubs signed a talent development deal in Feb. '18 (Bayern Munich). ... EPL side Crystal Palace goalkeeper WAYNE HENNESSEY was charged by the FA with "bringing the game into disrepute" for allegedly making a Nazi salute. He could be handed a five-game ban if found guilty. Hennessey denied that he was saluting and provided an explanation of his actions on Twitter. He said, "I waved and shouted at the person taking the picture to get on with it and at the same time put my hand over my mouth to make the sound carry" (LONDON TIMES, 1/24). ... The Aurora Games announced three-time Olympic medalist JACKIE JOYNER-KERSEE and five-time Olympic Gold Medalist NADIA COMANECI will serve as honorary captains of the inaugural all-women's sports and entertainment festival, which will be held at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y., from Aug. 20-25 (Aurora Games).
