Mo Salah no longer has a presence on social media.getty images
Liverpool's Mohamed Salah "deleted all of his social media profiles," according to Connor Dunn of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. Originally the Egyptian striker "had taken his Twitter account down from the social media site" but he has "now removed his Facebook and Instagram profiles too." Salah's action "follows a a cryptic tweet he posted" on Tuesday which appeared to be a New Year's resolution reading: "2019 Resolution: Time to get in touch, for real." There is now "no way to access Salah's Twitter page where the tweet existed." On Instagram, a page is displayed with "No Posts Yet" and "User not found," while on Facebook, it is "simply impossible to search for the African Player of the Year" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 1/23). The PA's Edd Dracott reported some fans speculated Salah deleted the accounts to "focus on his football." @LFCTransferRoom tweeted, "Many people suggesting this could be to block things out for the title run in. Sounds like a winners mentality from Mo." Other fans "speculated that Salah had deleted his social accounts to avoid recent criticism for alleged diving" (PA, 1/23).
