Marketplace Roundup: European Tour Partners With Callaway

The European Tour named Callaway an official partner for the next five years in an agreement across Callaway-owned brands. Callaway becomes the official driver, golf ball, shoe and golf bag brand of the European Tour. Odyssey and OGIO become the official putter and luggage brands, respectively; and Callaway Apparel, plus the "new to Europe" Travis Matthew brand, will be the official on-course apparel of the Tour. Callaway will also supply its Chrome Soft Golf Balls to driving ranges at European Tour events (European Tour).

Alfa Romeo Sauber Formula 1 named Sparco an official partner. Sparco will supply drivers and the pit crew with safety gear and equipment, also providing the safety belts which will be integrated into the team’s single-seaters starting from the ‘19 Formula 1 season. The Italy-based Sparco will have its logo featured on the sidepod floor of both cars (Sauber).

Thrifty Car and Van Rental formed a new partnership with British Cycling in which it will supply a fleet of 65 vehicles to the organization. It will help facilitate a number of British Cycling’s programs, including HSBC UK Go-Ride. British Cycling’s 146,000 members will be able to enjoy a 10% discount (British Cycling).

UAE-based Crescent Petroleum signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the local organizing committee of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi ‘19 to sponsor the event in March. Crescent is now an official supporter of the games and has committed to providing financial support, volunteers and specialized care workshops for parents of athletes in collaboration with its non-profit sister organization, High Hopes Pediatric Therapy Center (Crescent Petroleum).

Continental Tire will continue its relationship with La Vuelta, serving as a sponsor throughout every stage of the event. With the support of Unipublic, Continental has launched the Distancia-T initiative with the aim of protecting the safety of all cyclists and drivers and increasing awareness regarding good road practices for all its users. Continental will be in charge of sponsoring the Most Combative Rider Award for each stage. The decision will be made by TV viewers who, through their votes on social networks, will choose the winner (La Vuelta).

China-based Kunlun Lubricant, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corp., will be an official sponsor of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Kunlun was a sponsor of the ’08 Beijing Games (YUTANG SPORTS, 1/18)
