Media Notes: Cricket Australia's Move To Foxtel Gaining Traction

Cricket Australia’s "controversial move to deal exclusive white-ball cricket rights to pay-TV operator Foxtel is gathering traction," but ratings "remain a long way short of those delivered when games were shown on free-to-air." During Australia's win over India on Saturday, the run chase "drew an average of 413,000 viewers, which is excellent by pay TV standards." Meanwhile, the first innings, played earlier in the day, drew an average of 297,000. That was a "marked increase" on the way the pay-TV experiment began when only 133,000 viewers tuned in to the first innings of Australia’s ODI flop against South Africa in Perth (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 1/14).

A new collaboration between Danish TV 2 and Strive means TV 2 SPORT and TV 2 PLAY will broadcast a major Spanish or Italian football match per week, while TV 2 PLAY customers will soon be offered more matches between Europe's top teams at a reduced price (MY NEWS DESK, 1/14).

Eurosport is experiencing a record-breaking Four Hills Tournament. The broadcaster is registering its best-ever audience numbers for the flagship event. A peak audience of 7 million viewers across the Eurosport Network watched Ryoyu Kobayashi become the third man to win the event (Eurosport).
