French Sports Journalists Unite Against PSG's New Press Charter

Paris St. Germain’s new press charter has "received criticism from French media," according to L’ÉQUIPE. The Union of Sports Journalists in France (UJSF), supported by several media outlets, criticized the club’s new charter of relations with the press, which it said would "restrict the freedom of information." In a statement, the UJSF said, "In regard to the right to information and the freedom of expression, the new media charter issued by PSG, at the start of this year, is very worrying." The union’s statement was supported by Le Parisien, the Journal du Dimanche, Radio France, RTL and France Télévisions. The new charter follows last month’s controversy between the club and L’Équipe, in which PSG was upset with the publication over a story involving transfer rumors about Kylian Mbappé and Neymar. The club responded by "denying L’Équipe access to its press conferences" (L’ÉQUIPE, 1/7).
