Executive Transactions: Gerardo Martino Hired To Coach El Tri

Mexico hired GERARDO MARTINO to manage its men's national football team. The length of the deal is yet to be announced (GOAL, 1/7). ... Morgan Sports Law appointed WILLIAM STERNHEIMER as a partner to lead its newly-opened Swiss office based in Lausanne. He joins from the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where he was deputy secretary general (Morgan Sports Law). ... The FA of Thailand sacked national men's team head coach MILOVAN RAJEVAC following its 4-1 loss to India in its opening game of the Asian Football Confederation Asian Cup. Rajevac's assistant, SIRISAK YODYARDTHAI, was put in interim charge of Thailand (REUTERS, 1/7). ... Women's National Basketball League side Bendigo Spirit will have a new coach next season with SIMON PRITCHARD to end his time at the club. Pritchard will "coach out the final two rounds" but will not return, with the coaching job to be advertised in the coming days (THE AGE, 1/7). ... English-born RICHARD PYBUS was appointed interim head coach of West Indies men's cricket team and "will guide the team" in a busy '19 that includes the World Cup and a home series against England. Pybus, 54, will hold the head coach role until September, when a replacement will take over (AFP, 1/6). ...
