Championship Rugby club Toronto Wolfpack bought a sizeable minority stake in League 1 club London Skolars. The partnership also includes an in-kind financial investment alongside ongoing commercial, performance, development and community support. The two organizations will collaborate and share best practices in digital marketing, media, PR and fan engagement. The investment by the Wolfpack will engage potential new investors and partners for London Skolars. It is also expected that key trade links will be formed between Toronto Wolfpack’s partners and the city of London. Wolfpack Co-Owner David Argyle told SBD Global that his team came up with the concept of investing in a U.K. club in '17 and began talks with London Skolars earlier this year.
"The two cities are great global brands and rugby is global," Argyle said. "So they are wonderful platforms to increase awareness of our respective clubs and what we stand for."
NEW KIT PARTNER: The Wolfpack also named Australian sporting apparel brand ISC its official apparel partner for the next three years. The Wolfpack will wear a new ISC playing kit in '19, which will be available for fans to purchase from February (Toronto Wolfpack).
