Names In The News: AFL Player Majak Daw Suffers Broken Hip

Australian Football League side North Melbourne is "in shock" after learning that player MAJAK DAW was injured in an incident at Melbourne's Bolte Bridge. Daw, 27, is recovering in the hospital with a broken hip after he was pulled from the Yarra River late Monday night by emergency services. The incident is "being treated as a suspected suicide attempt" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 12/18). ... National Rugby League side Cronulla coach SHANE FLANAGAN is set to be "deregistered" by the NRL, leaving the club without a coach "less than three months before the start of the season." Club officials were called to a meeting at League Central to learn of their coach's fate. They will be given the integrity unit's report into whether Flanagan broke the conditions of his year-long suspension from the game in '14 in "connection to the peptides scandal" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 12/18).
