Names In The News: Virat Kohli Becomes India's Richest Athlete

Indian cricket captain VIRAT KOHLI "has been in top form on the cricket field" in '18 and that success "has resulted in him becoming the richest sportsperson in Forbes India’s list."  The Delhi batsman is only behind bollywood actor SALMAN KHAN among all celebrities. Kohli recorded earnings of Rs 100.72 crore last year (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 12/5). ... SERENA WILLIAMS will resume her quest for a record-equaling 24th grand slam title at the Australian Open in January after organizers on Wednesday "confirmed her entry to the tournament she won for a seventh time" during her last appearance in '17. Williams is scheduled to play an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi in the final week of the year before heading to Australia to warm up for her "assault on the Melbourne Park title at the Hopman Cup in Perth" (REUTERS, 12/5).
