PSG-Montpellier Postponed Due To Paris Protests

The Ligue 1 match between Paris St. Germain and Montpellier scheduled for Saturday was postponed at the request of the Paris police, according to L’ÉQUIPE. The French Professional Football League (LFP) in a statement said, “The LFP’s Commission of Competitions will arrange another date for the match.” The body has not announced when the match will take place (L’ÉQUIPE, 12/4). ESPN.com’s Jonathan Johnson reported the “Gilet Jaune” -- yellow jacket -- protests against a proposed fuel tax rise are “ongoing across France and clashes between protesters and police turned violent in the capital over the weekend.” Montpellier is currently second in Ligue 1 behind PSG (ESPN.com, 12/4).
