Marketplace Roundup: Liverpool Partners With Mitel

Liverpool agreed to a multi-year partnership with global business communications provider Mitel as its official global unified communications partner. Liverpool and Mitel will work together to enhance the club's fan experience by implementing innovative cloud-based communication and collaboration solutions (Liverpool).

Nike is currently negotiating an apparel sponsorship deal with Tencent for its League of Legends Pro League (LPL) competition in China. The deal was first reported by several Chinese media outlets earlier this month. However, team sources familiar with the deal said that "there are now disagreements over the terms of the contract." Sources added that reports that the deal would carry a 1B yuan ($143.8M) price tag and a five-year term are incorrect (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 11/26).

The Chinese Basketball Association on Monday announced heavy-equipment company Caterpillar as an official sponsor. Headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, Caterpillar is one of the world's largest manufacturers of construction machinery (CHINA DAILY, 11/27).

American clothing company Polartec will end its sponsorship of The Alberto Contador Foundation programs, including Continental team Polartec-Kometa. Polartec has been a sponsor of the foundation since '16, and became a title sponsor of the new Continental squad, along with Italian food producer Kometa, this season (CYCLING NEWS, 11/23).

The 2019 Australian Open announced La Roche-Posay as its official sunscreen partner. The company, which will also serve in the same capacity for the Australian Open lead-up events, will provide free samples of its Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF50+ for fans at five satellite sunscreen stations throughout the Melbourne Park precinct (INSIDE SPORT, 11/27).

British Touring Car Championship organizers revealed Kwik Fit will be the series' title sponsor for the '19 season. The servicing and repair company will replace Dunlop, which has been title sponsor since '10 (TOURING CAR TIMES, 11/25).

World Rugby appointed EY as the official professional services supplier of Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan. The firm will provide a full range of professional advisory services, including tax and accounting, for the tournament (Rugby World Cup).

Sponsorship advisory Redmandarin entered into a strategic alliance with Land -- Inspiration Agency to grow its presence in the Portuguese market (Redmandarin).
