ITF President David Haggerty is "confident" the revamped Davis Cup and rival ATP Cup "can eventually join forces to form one team competition." He said that "fruitful talks" had taken place with the various stakeholders to work "towards the greater good of the game." Haggerty: "We had very productive meetings in London with the ATP, Kosmos, the ITF, the Grand Slams and the players to talk about what is the best thing to do for tennis" (REUTERS, 11/24).
Australia will host two Int'l Cricket Council T20 World Cups in '20. The ICC Women's T20 World Cup, comprising 10 teams playing 23 matches, will take place in the country from Feb. 21-March 8, followed by the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which will include 16 teams playing 45 matches, from Oct. 18-Nov. 15 (ICC).
The Ligue Française de League of Legends (LFL) is the latest regional competition to be announced by Riot Games. This new professional circuit will be a co-production with global media and technology company Webedia, broadcast on French esports network O'Gaming TV. Prospective teams have until Dec. 14 to apply to join the LFL, with eight to be selected on "qualitative and sporting criteria" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 11/22).
