Finance Notes: Bayern Munich's '17-18 Turnover Reaches €657.4M

Bayern Munich's annual turnover for '17-18 reached €657.4M, up almost 3% from last season, but net profits were "down." Bayern won its sixth successive Bundesliga title last season but it "crashed out" of the Champions League in the semifinals. Turnover was up from €640M the previous season while EBITDA stood at €136.5M, down from €149M in '16-17. Net profit was also down to €29M from €39M (REUTERS, 11/20).

League Championship side Stoke City recorded pre-tax losses of £30.1M in '17-18 -- the season it was relegated from the Premier League. It is the first time the club has recorded a loss in five years, with the Potters reporting profits of more than £4.9M in the '16-17 season. An increase in wages, "dip in broadcast revenues" and a £29.4M "write down of player values" contributed to the deficit (BBC, 11/20).

ONE Championship launched a new athleisure business, making the sportswear and gear space another major business extension of Asia's largest global sports media property. ONE Championship will launch an online store, offering fans direct access to a range of urban lifestyle streetwear. ONE will also collaborate with designers known in the urban lifestyle streetwear space to introduce limited-edition collections (ONE Championship).
