Media Notes: PGA Tour Signs IMG Arena For Sports Betting Purposes

The PGA Tour announced IMG Arena will distribute official PGA Tour scoring data for media usage and sports betting purposes. IMG Arena will distribute official PGA Tour data to sports media companies, news services and other media organizations (PGA Tour). 

Australian Football League Indigenous Broadcasting is "on the brink of collapse" because of a lack of league funding. The radio service, which broadcasts matches into Australia's "most remote communities" via the National Indigenous Radio Service, has been "seeking urgent financial assistance" from league HQ for more than two years. It is likely to fold after 20 seasons if funds are not secured before Round 1 next year (HERALD SUN, 11/19).

African digital TV operator StarTimes and Serie A reached a three-year deal for the exclusive all media rights to Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana in the region of sub-Saharan Africa. StarTimes claimed the exclusive rights of the two Italian premier Cup competitions in English, French, Portuguese and African indigenous languages from '18-19 until '20-21 season (THIS DAY LIVE, 11/17).

Kayo Sports, which has been described as the "Netflix for sport," is now available as an app on mobile phones or tablets. A trial of Kayo Sports has been released and is "tipped to be a game-changing streaming service for Australian sports lovers." After a successful web trial launch two weeks ago, Kayo Sports apps for Android and iOS, along with Apple TV, have also been released in trial form and are available in their respective stores (Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH, 11/19).

FRENCH RATINGS: The French national women’s rugby team beat the Black Ferns 30-27 and drew an average audience of 1.3 million viewers on France 2 on Saturday. The match achieved a 10.8% market share, with a 1.8 million peak audience. The French men’s rugby team beat Argentina 28-13 on France 2 the same night, drawing 3.6 million viewers and a 16.7% market share (L’ÉQUIPE, 11/18). ... The first French women’s D1 match shown in prime time, between Paris St. Germain and Olympique Lyonnais, which ended in a 1-1 tie, drew an average audience of 462,000 viewers on Canal+. The match achieved a peak audience of 836,000 viewers (L’ÉQUIPE, 11/19).
