City Of Madrid Approves Of Plan To Demolish Vicente Calderón

The city of Madrid's government board approved of the plan that will allow the demolition of Atlético Madrid's former home, Vicente Calderón, and make the area an "urbanized zone for housing and tertiary use on the shores of the Manzanares river," according to MARCA. Municipal spokesperson Rita Maestra announced the plan, which will be carried out in three phases over 34 months. The first phase, which will have a budget of €22.4M ($25.4M), will consist of the demolition of the stadium. The budget for the second phase will be €7.7M ($8.7M), while the budget for the final phase will be €12M ($13.6M) (MARCA, 11/15).
