SANTIAGO SOLARI's appointment as Real Madrid's permanent manager was approved by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), a spokesperson said on Monday. The 42-year-old Argentine "has led the team to four wins in four games" since replacing JULEN LOPETEGUI two weeks ago (REUTERS, 11/12). ... Argentine Superliga side Colón coach EDUARDO DOMÍNGUEZ resigned following his team's 1-1 draw against Estudiantes on Saturday (CLARÍN, 11/12). ... Championship Rugby side Toronto Wolfpack appointed former Leeds Rhinos coach BRIAN MCDERMOTT as its new coach. He succeeds PAUL ROWLEY, who "missed out on back-to-back promotions to the Super League after a defeat by London Broncos last month." McDermott, 48, spent eight years at the Rhinos helm before leaving in June (BBC, 11/11). ... League One side AFC Wimbledon Manager NEAL ARDLEY "left the club by mutual consent." He was the third-longest-serving boss in England's top four divisions, having taken over in Oct. '12. Assistant NEIL COX is also leaving, with first-team coach SIMON BASSEY named interim manager (BBC, 11/12). ... League One side Shrewsbury Town fired Manager JOHN ASKEY. He won four of 17 matches with the club after replacing PAUL HURST during the summer (PA, 11/12). ... League Two side Swindon Town is set to appoint RICHIE WELLENS as its new manager. The former Oldham Athletic coach will succeed PHIL BROWN, who was sacked on Sunday with the club 17th in the league. Former Republic of Ireland int’l NOEL HUNT will be his assistant (BBC, 11/12). ... Russian Premier League club Spartak Moscow appointed OLEG KONONOV as its new head coach following the dismissal of MASSIMO CARRERA.
