Names In The News: Lewis Hamilton Threatens To Quit F1

Mercedes Formula 1 driver LEWIS HAMILTON claimed he will quit Formula 1 "if the season is super-sized to 25 races." F1 owner Liberty Media wants to expand the current 21-race calendar, with Vietnam already confirmed for '20. But Hamilton is "not keen on the plan" and said that it is "already long enough" (THE SUN, 11/9). ... PIETRO FITTIPALDI, the 22-year-old grandson of Brazil's two-time F1 world champion, EMERSON, will be the official test driver for Haas F1 next year, the U.S.-based team said on Friday. The Miami-born Brazilian will also take part in a Pirelli tire test in Abu Dhabi on Nov. 27 (REUTERS, 11/9). ... Late EPL side Leicester City Owner VICHAI SRIVADDHANAPRABHA will be immortalized at King Power Stadium though the commissioning of a memorial statue (LCFC). ... Former Australian Football League player CHRIS YARRAN was "charged with a string of offences over an alleged crime spree on Friday evening." Yarran was initially charged with "just two counts of obstructing a public officer and assaulting a public officer." Yarran, 27, now faces robbery, criminal damage or destruction of property, two counts of attempted robbery, dangerous driving and aggravated robbery charges (THE AGE, 11/10).
