League Notes: British Cycling Doctor To Face Medical Tribunal

British Cycling was told to "expect a medical tribunal involving its former doctor that could have serious consequences for the sport." The governing body is said to have been informed that Richard Freeman will "likely" face a General Medical Council tribunal "in connection with a delivery of testosterone patches" to the team's HQ in '11. At the time, Freeman was part of a British Cycling setup preparing for the London 2012 Olympics (London TELEGRAPH, 11/10).

The Rugby League World Cup trophy, which was lost for more than 20 years, was fitted with a GPS tracker so "it can never go missing again." It was stolen from a Bradford hotel ahead of the '70 competition before "turning up in a ditch in nearby Bingley 20 years later." The cup has been restored ahead of England hosting the '21 tournament (BBC, 11/9).

Cricket World Cup organizers apologized after thousands of fans were "mistakenly told" they had gotten tickets "in a ballot for next year's tournament." Ticketing partner Ticketmaster sent emails on Friday titled "Cricket World Cup 2019 -- confirmation of payment," but more than 4,000 people were later informed the emails were sent in error. Ticketmaster said that "no money was taken from those affected" (BBC, 11/10).
