Executive Transactions: Southampton Sacks Les Reed

LES REED, one of the "chief architects" of Southampton's resurgence as a Premier League club, was sacked as vice-chair following a "series of questionable signings and managerial appointments." Southampton became "renown" under Reed for its "often inspired recruitment" but that has faltered in recent years. The position of Manager MARK HUGHES is "not under any imminent danger" but the decision on Reed "reflects a desire not to make the same perceived mistakes of last season by waiting to act" (London TELEGRAPH, 11/8). ... Former Inter Milan Owner & President ERICK THOHIR joined the board of League One side Oxford United. The Indonesian businessman -- founder of media company Mahaka Group -- left the board of the Italian club last month, having bought a majority stake in '13 (BBC, 11/8). ... ONE Championship appointed former women's MMA world champion MIESHA TATE as its VP. Tate is a pioneer of women's MMA who retired from professional competition in '16 (ONE Championship).
