League Notes: AFLW To Implement Rule Changes To Increase Scoring

Australian Football League Women's fans "can expect to see more free-flowing contests and higher scoring next season" if changes implemented by the league have the "desired effect." Ten new rules and interpretations were tabled at a competition committee meeting in Melbourne on Wednesday and will be introduced for the '19 season. The women’s competition will adopt eight of the nine rule tweaks made for the men's league next season (AAP, 11/8).

The results of a post-mortem into the death of The Cliffsofmoher will not "be known for several weeks after the Irish-based horse became the fifth to die a from Melbourne Cup-related incident in the last six years" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 11/7).

Stefanos Tsitsipas risked incurring the wrath of the tennis community by "complaining about having to fetch his own towels" and claiming that "it's the ball kids' job to provide them." The towel rack is one of a number of reforms being trialed by the ATP at the Next Gen ATP Finals. He said, "I think having the towels whenever you need it, it's very helpful. It's one thing less to think about" (London TELEGRAPH, 11/6).

League of Legends developer Riot Games "is facing legal action over allegations it paid female employees less than men because of their gender and tolerated sexual harassment." The action against Riot Games "is being pursued by one of its former workers as well as a current staff member." It follows investigations by the L.A.
