Franchise Notes: ManU Fans Forced To Remove Shoes Ahead Of CL Match

ManU fans had to remove their shoes "during rigorous searches by stewards" prior to Thursday's Champions League match in Turin. Juventus was "concerned" that ManU fans "could smuggle prohibited items such as lighters and flares into the ground" for the match (LONDON TIMES, 11/7).

Scottish Premiership side Celtic expressed "deep regret" over the abuse carried out by pedophile Jim Torbett. The Celtic Boys Club founder was jailed for six years "after being found guilty of sexually abusing three boys." The club had been criticized for "its silence" following Torbett's conviction at the High Court in Glasgow (BBC, 11/7).

Liverpool renewed its commitment to support a youth coaching program in Kunming, China, in a long-term partnership with the Kunming Municipal Bureau of Education. The club will continue to deliver football coaching to schoolchildren at the Int'l Academy in Kunming (Liverpool).
