Facility Notes: Tottenham Installs 'Golden Cockerel' On New Roof

With Tottenham's new stadium "edging ever closer to completion," the iconic "Golden Cockerel" has returned to the roof. A 4.5m-tall replica of the original iconic cockerel that once sat on top of White Hart Lane was installed on the roof of the new stadium. In a statement on the club's website, Tottenham revealed it worked with "London Mould Makers" to create a scan of the sculpture -- which was first seen in 1909 (London DAILY MAIL, 11/6).

Scottish Premiership side Rangers revealed it intends to install a new hybrid pitch at Ibrox. Celtic and Heart of Midlothian "both switched to the surface in recent years." Celtic spent around £1M on its new turf and Rangers is "intent on following suit" (SCOTSMAN, 11/7).

Thousands of Central Americans headed toward the U.S. streamed into Mexico City and "bedded down in a sports stadium on the eve of U.S. midterm elections." Authorities counted more than 2,000 migrants entering the Jesús Martínez Stadium by mid-afternoon Monday, "and a steady flow continued into the night." The facility has a capacity to hold 6,000, officials said, and "four big tents set up for sleeping filled up." Nashieli Ramirez, ombudsman for the local human rights commission, said that the city was preparing to accommodate "as many as 5,000 people" (AP, 11/6).
