Event Notes: EE Bringing Back Wembley Cup Invitational

EE is bringing back its Wembley Cup invitational football tournament with a new format that will include former int'l footballers competing alongside YouTube personalities. The event, culminating in a live final at Wembley Stadium on Nov. 25, is returning for a fourth year, featuring ex-professional players including Robert Pires, David Trezeguet, Cafu and Michael Essien (CAMPAIGN LIVE, 11/6).

The Copa Libertadores final between Boca Juniors and River Plate will be played without opposing fans. The presidents of both Buenos Aires clubs made their decision on Monday, three days after Argentina President Mauricio Macri said that "visiting fans would be allowed" (AP, 11/6).

PUBG Corp. will launch the inaugural season for a three-phase PlayerUnkown's Battlegrounds competitive season, beginning in January. The first two phases of the PUBG season will "culminate in a to-be-announced global event," hosted by third party organizers, and the final phase will be followed by the Global Championship in early November with a $2M prize pool (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 11/6).
