Event Notes: Supercoppa Italiana To Be Held In Saudi Arabia

It was confirmed that Juventus and AC Milan will compete for the Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia on Jan. 16. Juventus won both Serie A and the Coppa Italia last year. The Supercoppa has previously been played in Tripoli, N.Y., Beijing, Doha and Shanghai (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 11/5).

More than 300 boxers from 70 countries will be taking part in the Women’s World Championship which begins in New Delhi on Nov. 15. It will mark "the highest participation in the event so far." Boxers from Germany, the U.S., England, Ukraine, Panama, Australia, Thailand, Bulgaria and Somalia "are already in India" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 11/5).

The first $1M Dota Pro Circuit Majors of the '19 calendar year will be held in Chongqing, China, and Stockholm, Sweden. StarLadder will host the Dota 2 Chongqing Major with help from ImbaTV from Jan. 19-27. DreamHack’s Corsair DreamLeague Season 11 "will serve as the Stockholm Major" from March 14-24. This will be the first time StarLadder has hosted a Dota 2 Major. In addition to hosting the Chongqing event, the Ukrainian esports company will also host two DPC Minors in the coming season. Those "are yet to be announced" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 11/5).

Unibet announced the FIDE World Chess Championship is expected to generate a higher betting turnover than some 2018 FIFA World Cup matches. The tournament's betting turnover could be comparable to the amount bet on the '18 Champions League final (World Chess).
