Razer CEO Matches $2.4M Malaysian Esports Investment

Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan agreed to match the Malaysian government's RM 10M ($2.4M) '19 budgetary commitment toward the development of esports, according to Max Miceli of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. Malaysia Minister of Youth & Sports Syed Saddiq has made esports a "point of emphasis since taking office in May," resulting in last week's allocation of funds for the Malaysia Digital Economy Corp. Saddiq is pushing to build ASEAN's first esports stadium in Malaysia and to include video gaming in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (TEO, 11/3).

DENIED FRANCHISE SLOT: TEO's Andrew Hayward reported Unicorns of Love, which has completed in the European League of Legends Championship Series since '15, will not be part of the league in '19. The organization announced the news in a YouTube video. Unicorns of Love Manager Fabian Mallant attributed the move to what he claimed is Riot Games' "desire to attract larger organizations with more money to invest into the league" (TEO, 11/3).
