Canberra Racing Undergoes Revamp Of Key Leadership Positions

Canberra Racing is "undergoing a complete overhaul" of its key leadership positions as it considers "what exact shape a potential redevelopment of Thoroughbred Park will look like," according to David Polkinghorne of THE AGE. After two years as chair, Paul Meiklejohn decided not to seek re-election at Tuesday's committee meeting, with Canberra Southern Cross Club CEO Ian Mackay "taking over the role." Meiklejohn will continue as a committee member. Stephen Heppenstall was elected as vice-chair and Les Boag was named treasurer. It comes as the search for a new CEO continues, following Peter Stubbs' retirement from the role. Canberra Racing CFO Andrew Clark is "filling the role on an interim basis." Clark backed the new appointments at a time when Canberra Racing was "looking to secure" its long-term financial future. It is investigating "taking advantage of the light-rail corridor by redeveloping some of its land with a potential mixture of commercial and residential" (THE AGE, 10/31).
