Toronto's OWL Expansion Franchise Unveils Name, Branding

Toronto's Overwatch League expansion franchise "officially has a name: the Defiant," according to Max Miceli of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. The team unveiled the name, along with its red, white, black and grey branding, in front of a sold-out crowd of 350 fans in downtown Toronto on Wednesday. Defiant partnered with Intel and OMEN by HP for the launch party and broadcast the event live on Twitch and Twitter. Chris Overholt, who serves as president and CEO of the team's owner, OverActive Media, said that the name is "about Torontonians' resilient disposition." The team, which is operated by esports organization Splyce, worked with Toronto-based Diamond Marketing, OverActive's agency of record, to craft the newly-announced branding (TEO, 10/25).

POLISH PRODUCTION: TEO's Jack Stewart reported Polish media company Polsat TV opened its first-ever esports and gaming studio in Warsaw. The Polsat eSports studio is based in the company's TV complex, where other shows are also produced. The studio was designed and created by production company ARAM, which has "years of experience in set design and event production for esports tournaments." ARAM is the "architect behind the look and feel of several major esport events," such as the Intel Extreme Masters and ESL One (TEO, 10/25).
