Executive Transactions: Philip Brook To Leave All England Club

Wimbledon is "searching for a new leader" after All England Club Chair PHILIP BROOK told members that he "plans to step down next year." His successor in what is "one of the world game's most influential positions" is expected to be decided in the next six months, although there "appears to be no especially favoured candidate at this point." Brook's departure "comes at a time of turmoil and factionalism throughout professional tennis" (London DAILY MAIL, 10/22).

COACHES/MANAGERS: HUGO LÓPEZ was named the coach of Sweden's national basketball team. López, a former assistant coach with Spanish Basketball League (ACB) club Real Madrid, replaces VEDRAN BOSNIC (EFE, 10/22). ... Spanish second division side Nàstic sacked coach JOSÉ ANTONIO GORDILLO. The club announced the news on Monday following a two-and-a-half-hour meeting (MARCA, 10/22). ... Second Bundesliga side Hamburg fired coach CHRISTIAN TITZ on Tuesday. The club said that former Bundesliga side Stuttgart Manager HANNES WOLF "would take over with immediate effect." Hamburg is two points behind league leader Cologne after 10 matches (AP, 10/23).
