Sri Lanka Cricket CFO Arrested For TV Rights Financial Fraud

Sri Lanka Cricket CFO Wimal Nandika Dissanayake was "arrested for suspected financial misappropriation linked with awarding telecast rights to Sony TV," according to the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. A police spokesperson said that following an investigation, they "arrested the main suspect," identified as Dissanayake. His lawyers were "not immediately available for comment." Dissanayake was arrested after the SLC's CEO "lodged a complaint to the police over financial fraud." The police spokesperson said, "The complaint says the SLC's television rights have been going to Sony since 2013. At the last South African tour, [Dissanayake] asked Sony to deposit 15% of the television rights fees to a private account in America." The amount of "money misappropriated on South African tours" was more than $187,000. Sony "could not immediately be reached for comment" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 10/23).
