League Notes: Bath-Toulouse Cup Match Will Not Be Replayed

Bath Rugby's "controversial" European Rugby Champions Cup match with Toulouse will not be replayed, European Professional Club Rugby announced. Bath lost 22-20 to its French opponent and was "aggrieved that referee Andrew Brace appeared to blow the full-time whistle before the full 80 minutes were complete," according to the clock on TV screens (IRISH TIMES, 10/23).

The services of one of the U.K.'s leading mediators have been enlisted "in a bid to resolve the political crisis at British Athletics." Britain's No. 1 Olympic sport "has been in turmoil" since UK Athletics Chair Richard Bowker "faced calls to stand down from prominent figures" on the UKA Members Council. Sport England and UK Sport turned to John Sturrock QC, who is described as Scotland's No. 1 mediator "with experience in high performance sport" (London DAILY MAIL, 10/22).

The National Rugby League will "continue investigations into allegations of racism by a worker wearing one of its official polo shirts" during the test match between Tonga and Australia in Auckland on Saturday. Alfred Aholelei, who was the Tonga DJ in charge of music at Mt. Smart Stadium, told Radio NZ that a man in the production room said, "Dance, monkey, dance" during the "Dance Cam" segment at halftime (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 10/23).
