ATP Finals Could Move Away From London After '20 Tournament

This year's ATP Finals will be staged at The O2 Arena for the 10th time.GETTY IMAGES

London "faces competition" from as many as 40 cities in its "bid to carry on hosting the end-of-season ATP Finals," according to Matt Majendie of the London EVENING STANDARD. Next month marks the 10th year that the men's season final has been played at The O2 Arena, and the venue's contract runs until '20. However, a "new bidding process opened in August with 40 separate cities from a total of 29 countries across the globe having expressed an interest in hosting the tournament" in the future. A "shortlist" of 3-5 host cities will be announced in December. The ATP will have to "weigh up a number of options." London's success as a host city has been "built on its crowds," but the ATP could "opt to chase a lucrative deal from Middle East bidders" (EVENING STANDARD, 10/23).
