Football Notes: FA Awaiting Referee's Report On Mourinho-Ianni Dust-Up

The FA "is awaiting the referee's report before deciding whether any further action is warranted" after ManU Manager José Mourinho "took exception" to the way Chelsea assistant coach Marco Ianni celebrated Ross Barkley's late equalizer on Saturday, "prompting a melee around the tunnel." FIFA will consider lifting Sierra Leone's suspension from int'l football after the corruption case against the president of the country's FA, Isha Johansen, is concluded in court. On Thursday, FIFA officials including Secretary General Fatma Samoura "met with Johansen and the Sierra Leone government to address the issue." FIFA said in a statement, "Fifa will wait for the completion of the trial before further measures can be considered, including the lifting of the suspension, if deemed appropriate" (BBC, 10/19).

Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu "postponed a vote on proposed changes to the club's badge amid opposition from supporters' groups." Club members were "due to decide on the new design at Barca's AGM on Saturday," but Bartomeu canceled the vote and said that there would instead be a period of "internal reflection" on the changes. Supporters group Seguiment FCB "has been vocal in its criticism" (ESPN.com, 10/20).
