Facility Notes: Tottenham Extends Stadium Loan To £500M

Tottenham increased its stadium loan to £500M ($653.3M) to "cover the rising costs of the delayed construction." Sources confirmed the club boosted its line of credit by £100M ($130.7M). Tottenham signed a five-year, £400M ($522.6M) loan with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs and HSBC to finance the construction in May '17 (London DAILY MAIL, 10/20).

Barcelona revealed what the construction process of its "Espai Barca" project will look like with a video simulation showing the club's plans to "revamp and expand" Camp Nou and "renovate its other installations." The video shows how the stadium's capacity will be raised from 99,000 spectators to 105,000 and the installation of a roof covering the whole arena. Currently, three sides of the stadium are "exposed to the elements" (REUTERS, 10/20).

Following a thorough tender process, the city of Cape Town appointed a joint venture company "to kick-start the process of securing a naming sponsor for the Cape Town Stadium." The city said in a statement that it "believes this will help to unlock the commercial potential of the facility" (IOL, 10/19).
