Mercedes-Benz Extends Deal With ESL Through '20

Mercedes-Benz extended its partnership with ESL for the ESL One Dota 2 tournament series until Dec. 31, 2020, according to Graham Ashton of THE ESPORTS OBSERVER. The agreement covers both national and global tournaments, with Mercedes-Benz having supported competitions in Germany, Malaysia, Poland and the U.K. over the last year. Financial terms were not disclosed. As part of the extension, Mercedes-Benz was named ESL’s global mobility partner. The Daimler car brand will continue to support the Most Valuable Player award for ESL One Dota 2 events, in which the winner -- decided by a combination of fan and expert voting -- "is awarded a custom trophy and new Mercedes-Benz car." Mercedes-Benz marked the announcement by "uploading a new commercial on its YouTube channel, centered around the history of video gaming" (TEO, 10/18).
