McLaren F1 Partners With Coca-Cola For Final Three Races Of '18

McLaren Formula 1 signed a partnership with Coca-Cola until the end of the season, according to Shrivathsa Sridhar of REUTERS. Coca-Cola's brand will appear on an F1 car "for the first time." McLaren added that Coke’s sub-brands, Dasani Sparkling and SmartWater, "would also feature" on its two cars in the three remaining Grand Prix races in the U.S., Brazil and Abu Dhabi. The team "did not disclose financial details of the deal." McLaren F1 Exec Dir Zak Brown said, "Formula 1 is changing, as are we as a team, and we’re looking forward to introducing Coca-Cola to the potential that our team and fantastic, global sport represents" (REUTERS, 10/18). AUTOSPORT's Jonathan Noble reported it is likely there are "options to extend the deal if the tie-up proves a success." The Coca-Cola company has been involved in F1 before, when its energy drink, Burn, was a sponsor of Lotus in '12 (AUTOSPORT, 10/18).
