WWE Faces Political Pressure Over Saudi Arabia Event

WWE on Nov. 2 is set to hold its "second massive" event in Saudi Arabia as part of its 10-year, "multi-million dollar deal with the kingdom," according to William Steakin of the INDEPENDENT JOURNAL REVIEW. But with "reports continuing to emerge detailing the alleged kidnapping and killing" of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the "lucrative deal could be in jeopardy." U.S. Senator Chris Murphy said, "I'd hope that they would be rethinking their relationship with the kingdom especially with respect to events coming up." U.S. Senator Chris Coons said that WWE "should be taking a hard look" at its relationship with the kingdom. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham: "There should be a pause." WWE co-Founder Linda McMahon is small business administrator in U.S. President Donald Trump's administration (IJR, 10/12).
