Media Notes: DAZN Acquires Rights To EPCR Champions Cup

DAZN landed the exclusive rights to the European Professional Club Rugby Champions Cup and the EPCR Challenge Cup for the next four seasons. Starting from the '18-19 season, DAZN will be the exclusive home of more than 70 EPCR matches per season live and on-demand in Canada, Germany, Austria, Japan, Switzerland and Italy. Beginning on Friday, DAZN will broadcast every round in the Champions Cup as well as selected pool stage matches and all quarterfinal, semifinal and final matches of the Challenge Cup (DAZN).

Asian Television Network acquired the broadcast rights for the fifth season of the Indian Super League, which will be contested through March. ATN will bring the ISL to Canada on five of its channels (TELECOMPAPER, 10/8).

The NFL announced GoUSA TV will present the London Games Kickoff Concert as part of its sponsorship of the NFL London Games. The concert will feature Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jess Glynne (NFL).

Esports organization Fnatic announced a collaboration with VR platform Sansar (Fnatic).

Eurosport will broadcast the ATP Masters 1000 and 500 tennis tournaments from '19-23 in France after Discovery purchased the rights. The events were originally shown on beIN Sports in the country. Eurosport already exclusively broadcasts the Australian and US Opens and co-broadcasts the Roland Garros with France Télévisions. BeIN Sports "retains the rights" to broadcast Wimbledon, the WTA, the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup (L'ÉQUIPE, 10/6).

On Sunday, an average of 1.6 million viewers watched the Paris St. Germain-Olympique Lyonnais match on Canal+. The match, which PSG won 5-0, also drew an average of 242,000 viewers on Canal's mobile platform. The figure marks the best audience of the year for the broadcaster (L'ÉQUIPE, 10/8).
