The British creator of the jet engine-powered suit that allows you to take flight said that "he would launch a new racing series over water next year featuring men and women from different sporting backgrounds." Inventor Richard Browning said, "The idea of ... a race around a kind of air race circuit, in three dimensions with 1,000-horsepower jet suits, it's going to be astounding and phenomenal." The suit, which has a record speed of 32mph, is "made up of five miniature jet engines mounted on the pilot’s arms and back" (REUTERS, 10/5).

Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen told the Scottish Professional Football League it does "not agree" with the way in which the club is being asked to sell tickets for the League Cup semifinal against Rangers. The Pittodrie club will receive 16,800 tickets for the Hampden match, with "a promise" of an extra 4,400 in the North Stand should it have "strong sales." But the club said that fans will be denied the chance to buy "the best seats in the stadium" from the start (BBC, 10/6).

Cycling Australia announced that the city of Wollongong, New South Wales, was awarded the 2022 Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) Road World Championships. The events it will host include the U19, U23 and elite men’s and women’s categories "for the coveted rainbow jerseys in the individual time trials, road races and the new mixed team relay." It will be the second time Australia has hosted a UCI Road World Championships, with Geelong having hosted in '10 (CYCLING NEWS, 10/6).
