Former UK Athletics CEO To Oversee '21 World Championships

Former UK Athletics CEO Niels de Vos was hired to oversee the 2021 World Athletics Championships, organizers said, according to Gene Cherry of REUTERS. De Vos, who was with UK Athletics for more than a decade before leaving in September, will become the exec director of Oregon21, the local organizing committee for the '21 championships. Hired by the Oregon21 board on Friday, De Vos, 51, is expected to arrive in Eugene next week. Organizers said that he will be responsible for the organizational management for the world championships, including the development of all strategic plans, associated budgets, national and int'l partnerships, sponsorship and broadcast negotiations and other operational functions (REUTERS, 10/5).
