Football Notes: AFE Confirms Opposition To Match In Miami

The Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) "definitively rejected" La Liga's plan to hold the Girona-Barcelona match in Miami. The AFE is in agreement with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), "which previously made it clear it will not approve of the match" (AS, 9/24).

Ticket prices for games in the Bundesliga "have dropped for the first time in five years," according to a recent study. Analysis from German media company Sponsors revealed a decrease in the average price of the cheapest season and matchday Bundesliga tickets to below '15-16 levels. The most expensive prices for season tickets and matchday tickets have also fallen -- marking the first time that a decrease in all four categories has occurred since at least '13- 14 (SOCCEREX, 9/24).

Juventus President Andrea Agnelli said that he is "open to Serie A games being played abroad and the creation of a so-called European Super League." Agnelli had already confirmed at the World Football Summit that a third UEFA competetion "was being worked on." Agnelli said of playing overseas, "We have the example of great competitions such as the NFL or NBA, which export their games, so it should be considered" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 9/24).

A Mexican football fan is in "intensive care after undergoing surgery following a clash between fans" of Liga MX side Tigres UANL and Monterrey on Sunday. The match between the Monterrey-based rivals ended in a 0-0 draw "but was overshadowed by fighting" on Avenida Aztlán (OMNISPORT, 8/24).

An investigation was opened by Croatian authorities into the "alleged sale of black market tickets for the World Cup final." According to local channel N1 and the index.hr website, the offices of the Croatian Football Federation "were raided as part of the probe ordered by the Zagreb state attorney's office." The tickets concerned were "apparently earmarked" as only being available to "members of the football family" and not to the general public (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 9/24).
