Former Australian cricketer MARCUS NORTH was appointed as Durham County Cricket Club's new director of cricket. North, 39, succeeds GEOFF COOK, who will leave the club at the end of the season as part of a restructure. North has been director of South Northumberland Cricket Club since '15 (BBC, 9/21). ... Premiership Rugby side Saracens announced ALEX GUMMER as its director of marketing. He joins from sports marketing agency Two Circles, where he was client service director. He starts his new role with the club in November (Saracens). 

COACHES/MANAGERS: Former Italy football int'l FABRIZIO RAVANELLI resigned as Ukrainian Premier League side Arsenal Kiev manager after three months in charge. Ravanelli oversaw one win, a draw and seven defeats in his nine games, and the side is last in the league (BBC, 9/23).
