Media Notes: Fox Sports Latin America To Launch OTT Service

Pay-TV network Fox Sports Latin America will launch its OTT service, Fox Sports Premium, in Mexico and Central America in '19. The platform, which will be available to existing subscribers, will join the network’s channel portfolio on Jan. 1, showing exclusive coverage of the top football leagues in Argentina, Mexico and Germany as well as a "wide range" of int'l sports events (SOCCEREX, 9/21).

The Europa League match between Bordeaux and Slavia Prague, which Slavia won 1-0, drew 386,000 viewers on RMC in France. The match recorded a 1.9% market share. Europa League matches “regularly draw more than 1 million viewers” on W9 (L’ÉQUIPE, 9/21).

Abacus News reported streaming service Twitch was "blocked by government censors in China." Twitch "has become inaccessible for most users" in Mainland China, and the app has been removed from the country’s iOS App Store. Twitch "confirmed the block," but did not release a statement "as to the reason" (THE ESPORTS OBSERVER, 9/21).
