The story behind Argentina's victory in men's basketball at Athens 2004 will be featured in "The Golden Generation," the third film in the Olympic Channel's signature series, Five Rings Films. Eurosport will remain the exclusive home of MotoGP until '21 in the Netherlands and Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium. Discovery/Eurosport extended an agreement with MotoGP commercial rightsholder Dorna Sports for the linear and digital rights. In addition to MotoGP races, all free practice, qualifying and warmup sessions will be aired on the Eurosport platforms. The same applies to Moto2 and Moto3 (Discovery).
Swedish state-owned horse racing operator ATG agreed to a cooperation deal with Paddy Power Betfair's TVG "to allow American customers to bet on Swedish horse races." Beginning this week, 45 million U.S. households will be able to bet on ATG's products through TVG's horse racing TV network, which offers "up to 15 hours of horse racing daily" (GAMING INTELLIGENCE, 9/19).
German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland reached an agreement with Discovery "regarding the distribution of Bundesliga channel Eurosport 2 HD Xtra, but this only covers the gastronomy sector." The partnership between Sky and Discovery runs until the '20-21 Bundesliga season and enables Sky sports bars, hotel bars and clubhouses with satellite reception to show Eurosport 2 HD Xtra on their premises (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 9/19).
Canal+ Group signed a commercial agreement with SFR "for the distribution of the RMC Sport bouquet." The agreement was signed in time for this week's round of Champions League matches that are being screened on the Altice-owned channels (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 9/19).
Motorsport.tv said that "it will move to an online and on demand channel" from Sept. 30. Thema, the company that distributes the channel, said that the audience is shifting toward digital channels and consuming more video content (BROADBAND TV NEWS, 9/19).
