On Thursday, four men will vie to become the next president of the "problem-hit" Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The polls scheduled for Katsina State in northern Nigeria "are expected to go ahead despite moves from some quarters to prevent them from taking place." The four men "hoping to take charge" are incumbent Amaju Pinnick, former President Aminu Maigari, Taiwo Ogunjobi and Chinedu Okoye (BBC, 9/19).
League One side Charlton Athletic Owner Roland Duchâtelet agreed to meet the English Football League next month to explain the club's situation. He will be joined by Lieven de Turck, who is representing Charlton in takeover talks. Duchâtelet "wants to sell up but a proposed deal with an Australian consortium has stalled, while little is known about a second party" that agreed to a deal. It is thought the £35M ($46M) asking price "has put off buyers" (London EVENING STANDARD, 9/19).
The Asian Football Confederation's medical committee agreed to its first injury study on women's football. The study will focus on epidemiology and injury analysis based on data available from its women's competitions. The AFC will partner with Aspetar for the study (AFC).
